Selina shrugged, scooping down to pick up a cat, absentmindedly petting it. She kept the cats around because they needed a place to stay. Except for Isis. Isis she had bought to keep her company, though she always had had a tendency towards cats. For that, she could blame her mother, who preferred the company of cats to that of her own family. But that was another story, and one she didn't need to think about right now.
"Most of the cats come and go as they want," she explained. "They come here, I feed them, and they'll leave." It was a good way to do things. They didn't become dependent on her like Isis was (though Isis was a crazy-independent cat) and they got free food and a warm place to stay in the winter. And Selina got company. It was perfect. "Really, I just think it's training for when I'm old." Selina was, after all, the definition of budding crazy cat lady.
She began walking about the small kitchen, grabbing her tea kettle, filing it with water and placing it on the stove to prepare the tea. "They're mostly harmless," she explained. "Mostly they just like attention and to be fed." Which she'd have to get on after she got Pam her asprin. She wandered around for a few more moments, approaching the medicine cabinet and removing the asprin bottle. Wordlessly, she handed the bottle to Pam before taking the tea down from the adjacent cupboard.
"Woodrow calling you again?" she asked. At least Pam seemed to be recovering for now, calming down.- that was certainly a bonus point by any means. "I'll talk to him again, if you want. Or, you know, we're high enough up that the fall from my window would kill the phone- or if not, some other poor member of Gotham would be very thankful for it." Pam could also just turn her phone off, but she'd still have to deal with the voicemails in the morning. She put the box of tea down on the table before looking over Pam. "Do you want to sit on the couch? My chairs aren't the most comfortable thing in the world."

Pam could not help a smile as Selina went on about the cats and her future as a cat lady. She shook her head and gave her a skeptical look. "For some reason I doubt you'll be alone forever Kit Kat..." which of course she figured to be true. I mean Selina had a lot of things going for her from looks to a fun personality. To Pam, Selina was literally the Cat's Meow...
She shifted uncomfortably in her chair before glaring at the phone once more. "Yes.. it's him calling again... I don't think he'll stop I mean I AM the most important part of the experiment after all..." she said matter of factly before giving Selina a frightened look. Had she spoken too much... she believed she had and this was not at all a good thing in Pam's mind. Such fragile state that it was in she could hardly react let alone let details like this slip into the wind.
"I like my phone too much to toss it just yet..." she said turning back to the topic of cell phones. "But you are quite welcome to chew him out if he continues to be a pain in my behind..." she said with a small smile before shifting once more in her seat and taking the offer of moving to the couch. "Are they here merely for decorative purposes than?" she asked jokingly once her butt had begun to heal from the hardness of the chair that she had chosen to sit on.
He mind kept wondering back and forth and she was glad they we're far enough from any plant life to not be hearing the whispers or the screams. The screams where alway the worse though. It was like slow torture and they would last for days. As the flowers died in their pretty vases... Pam could only remember the sound of their screams....
ooc// Forgive the delay please...

Selina laughed and smiled at Pam's certainty she wouldn't wind up alone. "Can we look at my track record? Please?" Well, the track record Pam knew about. "I haven't had a single love-interest since you've known me. Seriously- if anything, it's been one sided, on either side, but nothing other than that." Work didn't count. Those were not relationships. Those were business transactions. To add a little credibility to her crazy cat lady statement, she reached down and scooped up one of the cats, absentmindedly petting it on the head for a few moments.
She let the cat down however at Pam's next statement and grimaced. "Oh, I wish you wouldn't- Pam, what made you think this was a good idea to begin with?" She was the human guinea pig. There were laws against testing on humans now. And on animals. Quickly, however, Selina realized how harsh her tone had been and grimaced again. "Sorry, I mean- Pam, I worry about you. A lot. In all likelihood, I should be taking you to the hospital to deal with these toxins- and calling Liz about getting you a case against this Woodrow guy." If Pam didn't, Selina certainly would. Or do everything within her secretarial power to do something about this. It just wasn't okay.
She shook her head. "You can turn off voicemail for the night. That'd piss him off something awful." It'd be funny, too. Unless of course, someone important called. Then she was screwed. "But I'll tell you what, the idea of chewing him out again is becoming more and more appetizing as we speak." You couldn't deny that.
Selina frowned on the mention of her chairs, heading into the kitchen to pour the tea for herself and Pam. "The chairs? Oh, yeah. I generally eat at the couch." Occasionally she'd eat on the chairs, but it depended on her mood. There was silence for a few moments as she got out two mugs and placed the hot water in it, followed by the tea bags. "cream or sugar?" she called, before grabbing both the creamer and sugar bowl in one hand, and the two mugs in the other, complete with spoons. That was a few months work of secretarial gigs for you! Bringing coffee and all that.
Upon entering the living room again and setting the tea making items on the coffee table, she took a seat on the couch next to Pam. "Pam, what's Woodrow doing to you, anyway?" her tone was serious. She wanted answers.

She smiled though worry was clear in her features... She didn't want to be worrying her friend not over something so small as this. At least to Pam it seemed small and insignificant. Just like plants seemed to be to humans.. small defenseless and insignificant.. that is until you where cut by their thorns...
She grimaced slightly at her tone. She honestly could not remember nor even fathom why she believed this had been a good idea to begin with. Let alone find a reasonable way to reply to Selina's accusatory tone. She sighed once more feeling as defeated as she looked. "In truth I don't know why I thought it be a good idea though I believe I never thought it was a good idea... it just sounded like a good plan until the needles and the toxins we're too much for me to bear... I though it would be more using my blood not injecting me directly.. but apparently blood wasn't enough... "
She smiled again as her tone softened... "Well I can't turn off the voice mails he's liable to try to track me down not to mention fill my voice mails at the apartment..."She shook her head and watched her move about the small apartment. "The only thing I AM regretting is loosing my meeting with Mr. Wayne..." The phone began to vibrate once more and Pam was tempted to just toss it out the window and get a new one. It was giving her a bit of a headache once again.
She watched Selina get up and walk over to the kitchen and yell something about cream or sugar for her tea. "Both, actually" she said as she came back with everything and set it down on the coffee table. Pam took up a cup and poured some tea for herself. Her hands we're shaky but she ignored it as she poured herself some cream and some sugar as well.
Once she had everything set she took a gulp. not a sip of the tea. The warm liquid tasking and feeling good going down her pale throat. She then looked over to Selina once more who not only sat next to her but had taken a serious tone once more and was inquiring about the experiments. Pam could not help but gulp... before answering."Well it began with a mix of human DNA with the plants DNA to see what would develop... the experiments turned into something more important to the Doctor so he thought it be best to test it out on me... seeing as my blood type is very rare... AB negative... and well the first few did nothing for it was just blood samples... Then the injections I thought it was something else.. I hadn't figured out he was injecting me with the toxins until the second time I awoke in the hospital and the doctors explained their findings..."

Selina wanted desperately to shake her and yell Since when did you think that putting plant toxins into your body was ever going to be a good idea? That's just not smart! but she knew that was a very, very bad idea. She just shook her head. Obviously they needed her blood stream directly- otherwise, and this was just rudimentary biology here- but she didn't think they'd be able to measure what they wanted to. Whatever that was. She sighed, pouring the milk into Pam's tea and giving her some sugar. Into her own tea she placed simply sugar before stirring it absentmindedly, letting Pam talk.
"You'll find a way to talk to Mr. Wayne, I'm sure- especially if you take Woodrow to court- then I'm sure you can get Mr. Wayne to testify somehow over something." Like the press conference that was supposed to happen tonight- he was a witness to that. She shook her head as the phone continued it's endless ringing. "That man- urgh-" she couldn't even put words to it. Sure, she'd only spoken with him on the phone, but the hate she had for him- it was a little ridiculous. It was like how she felt for those pimps who had hurt the younger girls, herself when she was little included, or the johns who went one step too far in anything- the mafia men who let it happen- she couldn't stand any of it. Another reason for her to have gotten out when she did. But she knew it kept on going behind her back. Anyway, to the subject at hand-
She took a sip of her tea, patiently listening to Pam describe the experiment. She nodded, her face paling and her jaw falling open as she heard this. "That's... that's..." she shook her head. Illegal was one word for it. Abominable was another. Wrong, too. Hell, this is what the thesaurus was for. "Christ, Pam-!" It wasn't angry. It was concerned. The anger was there for Woodrow- what type of sick bastard would do this to someone?
"I don't know what to say," she finally admitted. "Why'd you let him continue? Why did the doctors?" It didn't make sense. But that was just the sick kind of masochism people subjected themselves to. She had done it for years and years for the sake of surviving. Pam was doing the same, in a strange way. But it still didn't make sense.

Her words though trying to be encouraging fell on deaf ears. She knew what she was doing and she had willingly become a guinea pig and now her sanity was hanging by the smallest of threads with no way of returning to it's normal way of being. No going back... she could never go back to being normal she had changed to much learned too much and needed to do so much for that to happen.
She sipped a bit of her tea but for the most part just held it. She felt claustrophobic in a way and wanted to go outside but knew far too well that if she tried to leave Selina would stop her for that was her nature just as hers was, at least for now... to go so deep down the rabbit hole of madness that only god himself could drag her out of it.
She bit her lip once more and sighed. "I do hope I get that meeting ... it would do wonders for my current predicament..." she replied in a neutral tone. Not to mention my current state of distress.. she added silently. After she was finished with the explanation she braced herself for what was to come. Yells and screams maybe even anger at her stupidity.
What she did not expect was the Spanish Inquisition as Selina began bombarding her with endless questions and inquiries. She shook her head and gulped slightly annoyed by them. "I honestly didn't think it would go this far... never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be hear..." she stopped dead in her tracks and just looked at her. Emerald eyes unblinking... she will think me mad if I tell her... if I show her... she thought fearfully.
